The GF and I got one each from Orange UK after both having BlackBerries for the last couple years. I do miss the leather slip case that came with my BB Curve. I prefer to have my phones without a permanently attached case or cover, but like the added protection of the slip case when it’s in my pocket. As you rightly point out leather cases are much easier to get in and out of your pocket compared to their lint-magnet rubber brethren. I haven’t seen a decent looking leather slip case specifically for the iPhone 4 yet but thanks to your advice I’ll take a look at 3GS cases and see if I can find a suitable one amongst the wider range of those that are still available. I couldn’t agree more with your point about screen protectors as well. Even if you choose to go caseless (and let’s face it the iPhone 4 is a thing of beauty so why would you want to cover it up with just any old rubbish?) putting a screen protector on it is an absolute necessity.
