Solution for broken iPhone/iPod touch Remote App

Commenter Fredrik posted a link to the solution for those with problems using the iPhone/iPod touch Remote app to control their iTunes library on their computer. I tried this and it completely solved my problem.
DanKhoueiry writes:
I had the same problem and I solved it.
This is what I tried: In iTunes, go to Preferences, choose Sharing, [...]

Sadly, iPhone Remote app still doesn’t work

Apple just yesterday released the new version 1.1 of their Remote app. While it does add Genius playlist creation, it still has not solved my problem. I can select songs via the Artist and Album lists, but not from playlists, nor can I play any videos. I can however move through the songs of my [...]

What iPhone 2.1 *doesn’t* fix

The iPhone 2.1 does fix a few things that users have been asking about (except for copy and paste, of course), but one thing it does not fix is the annoying “0xE80002E” problem, where you cannot install an update of an application to your iPhone. This is getting fairly annoying as it now happens to [...]

Remote app for iPhone/iPod touch broken?

I’m not sure if this is due to the 2.1 firmware update or iTunes 8, but Apple’s Remote app, which lets one control their Mac or PC based iTunes library via Wi-Fi, appears now to be mostly broken. Selecting songs from the Artist list or the Album list still works, but selecting media from any [...]

My first impression: iPhone 2.1

After updating my iPhone to v. 2.1, I first noticed that the graphic “E” to indicate being connected to the EDGE network has been inverted. It is now a solid white E against the black background or a solid blue E against the grayish background in most apps. Nothing else ground breaking on the home [...]

iPhone 2.1 update in the wild

It appears that all the predictions of a Friday release for the iPhone 2.1 update were correct. According to the Apple Software Update page, the update fixes or adds the following:

Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
Significantly better battery life for most users
Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and [...]

Annoying iPhone keyboard bug

Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone. But like any device, it does have its shortcomings (read: bugs). One of my chief complaints would have to be this annoying bug where the keyboard will type extremely slow. The “solution” to this problem is to hold the home button and force quit the application, but this [...]

Where’s my data?

This morning I was distressed (maybe a bit strong of a word) to find that I could not access the internet on my phone. Naturally I jumped on Google to try to find out if anyone else had this problem and if there was anything I could do on my part to fix it. I [...]

Gimme some Chrome

So I don’t know where I’ve been, but the first I’ve heard of Chrome, Google’s new web browser, was yesterday. I looked through their 38 page comic book explaining the differences between Chrome and other browsers and I was highly impressed. It’s built on WebKit, the same engine as Apple’s Safari browser, and is supposed to be [...]

New school, new phone

So I certainly haven’t posted here in a long time, contrary to what I said and now I feel like starting up again. I’m going to a new school, SUNY Potsdam, which I love so far. The bigger news however is my new phone. I finally went out and got myself an iPhone. It’s wonderful and everything [...]
